A failed brake master cylinder can leak brake fluid externally, or it can develop an internal leak. Both scenarios will result in a soft brake pedal and ineffective brakes, causing a major safety concern.

IE If you install an STi block in a WRX at your friends shop, do not expect a warranty claim to come through if it explodes! Please use your best judgement.
