The Secondary Air Pump is an emissions control unit that helps to reduce hydrocarbons during cold start up. If you are getting a check engine light code P2431 this may be one of the issues throwing the code.

IE If you install an STi block in a WRX at your friends shop, do not expect a warranty claim to come through if it explodes! Please use your best judgement.
